Job summary

Upbring seeks a Youth Care Worker to provide direct care and supervision for Unaccompanied Children (UC) in a safe, therapeutic setting. You will ensure compliance with ORR licensing standards and agency policies while reporting incidents promptly and maintaining required documentation.

The role includes 2:00 pm–10:00 pm shifts, basic daily living support, and collaboration with management and clinical teams to support UC wellbeing and daily goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• One year employment experience in the child welfare field with children/adolescents.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, based on service area.
• Must be able to work extended shifts, including 12-hour shifts at least once a week.
• Ability to use basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and documentation systems.
• Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Strong verbal communication skills, ability to give and follow instructions.
• Associate's degree in social services or closely related field (preferred).
• Two (2) years’ previous experience performing direct care services to children and adolescents (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake services for incoming UC, including paperwork and orientation.
• Provide basic needs upon arrival: meals, clothing, hygiene, shower, and bedroom assignment.
• Supervise UC and enforce behavior limits per treatment plan and ORR standards.
• Perform behavior management and crisis intervention with 1:1 monitoring.
• Maintain a safe, organized living space for UC and document interactions.
• Assist UC with social skills, anger management, and daily living skills.
• Escort UC on outings and ensure safety during transport and activities.
• Develop positive working relationships with management, staff, UC, and volunteers.
• Assist in evacuations during emergencies and participate in meetings/trainings.
