Job summary

Federal Express Corporation seeks a Yard Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers within the yard and load/unload packages safely. You will operate with hand-held scanners, dock carts, and other equipment, while following safety procedures and coordinating with dispatch.

Experience is not required, but a valid driver’s license and ability to read labels and numbers to sort packages are essential. This role is based in Van Buren, MI, with evening shifts and standard FedEx benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver's license and a current DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions and work duties.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Familiarity with basic tools such as hand-held scanners, dock carts and unloading devices.

Responsibilities

• Moves and switches trailers between yards and doors.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management or central control.
• Documents trailer moves using yard management or switcher cards.
• Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Performs package handling as needed: loads/unloads, sorts, and stacks packages.
