Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a welder/fitter at our Mount Pleasant, IA facility. Responsibilities include maintaining weld quality, reading blueprints, and following safety procedures in a manufacturing setting.

The role requires 1–3 years welding experience or an associate degree, ability to read measuring devices, operate tools and forklift, and lift up to 50 pounds. Shift is 3:00 pm–12:00 am, Monday through Friday, with a $1.50 per hour differential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent or 1–3 years welding experience in manufacturing.
• Read blueprints and drawings.
• Read and comprehend safety and procedure documents.
• Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small groups.
• Perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, percentages).
• Required to use power hand tools.
• Required to drive a forklift.
• Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
• Read measuring devices (tape measure, protractor, micrometer).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually.

Responsibilities

• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with bead condition
• Read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard
• Decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
• Decide repairs for pin holes and burn-through caused by an auto welder
• Train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
• Operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment
• Hold beads to specified shapes, sizes, and penetrations while maintaining quality
• Maintain numerical and alphabetical sequences
• Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
