Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is hiring a second-shift welder in Monticello, IA. Base pay starts at $22.00–$26.00 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential. Shift: 2nd Shift – 3:15 pm to 1:45 am.

You will read blueprints, set weld parameters, and maintain quality while operating cranes and lifting equipment. Requirements include an associate degree or 1–3 years welding experience, ability to read tapes and micrometers, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Details

Base pay starts at $22.00–$26.00 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential.

Shift: 2nd Shift – 3:15 pm to 1:45 am.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Know and apply all safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow based on bead condition.
• Read and interpret tape measures and blueprints to shop standards.
• Adjust or manipulate the gun as needed.
• Determine necessary repairs for pin holes and burn-through caused by the auto welder.
• Train and teach proper welding procedures following job procedures.
• Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment.
• Hold beads to specified shapes, sizes and penetrations while maintaining product quality.
• Maintain accurate numerical and alphabetical sequencing.
• Follow continuous improvement practices in the work area.
• Perform additional projects or duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a 2‑year college or technical school; or 1–3 years of welding experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Read blueprints and drawings.
• Read and comprehend documentation, including safety programs, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
• Effectively communicate in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
• Perform general math calculations.
• Use power hand tools and work a forklift.
• Meet deadlines under pressure.
• Read measuring devices such as tape, protractor, micrometer.
• Lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.
