Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1+ year hospital/clinic patient access experience preferred.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within 1 year of hire.
• Minimum 1 year hospital registration experience and competency.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding concepts.
• Insurance verification knowledge and ability to explain benefits.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet timelines.
• Customer service experience in healthcare or front desk settings.
• Strong clerical and computer skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent interpersonal skills with peers and patients.
• Attention to detail and accurate data entry.
• Willingness to learn other registration tasks.
• Comfort with collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and collect demographics; enter patient in the tracking system.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required forms and referrals.
• Identify/assign medical record numbers and update patient data.
• Understand payer requirements and secure necessary authorizations.
• Review physician scripts for completeness and escalate as needed.
• Support outbound communications and explain No Surprises Act information.
• Post payments and reconcile transactions per policy.
• Assist with multiple outpatient registration areas as needed.
• Coordinate with clinical team to ensure patient safety and smooth flow.
• Participate in training and performance improvement initiatives.
