Job summary

Utah State University’s Merrill-Cazier Library is seeking an Evening & Weekend Manager to lead student employees and oversee access services during evening and weekend hours. The role reports to the Head of Access Services and emphasizes independent judgment, high-quality public service, and efficient operations.

The position requires strong communication, public service experience, and the ability to manage workflows across library units.

Qualifications

• Two years of library experience, or an associate degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a public service environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with students, staff, faculty, and community members.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; ability to learn new systems and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Oversees library operations during evening and weekend hours, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.
• Coordinates Access Services operations and workflows, collaborating with other library units to ensure timely delivery of library services.
• Provides leadership, training, and day-to-day supervision of student employees.
• Delivers high-quality customer service through in-person and virtual service points, resolving patron concerns and operational issues.
• Manages Access Services spaces, equipment, supplies, and other operational resources.
• Collaborates on projects, workflow improvements, and initiatives supporting library goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
