Job summary

The University of California - Davis Library is seeking a part-time Night & Weekend Assistant to support Access Services in Davis. Under general supervision, you will oversee public desk operations, enforce library policies, and help maintain building and collection security during evenings, weekends and holidays.

You will train student workers, assist patrons, and collaborate with Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery services as needed.

Qualifications

Experience in library operations in academic settings, including public service, circulation, and interlibrary loan.
Experience training, directing, evaluating, and motivating others.
Proficiency using computers, databases, and library information resources.
Strong customer service and ability to explain complex policies.
Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to analyze situations and make sound judgments within policies.

Responsibilities

Oversee Access Services functions and Public Service Desk responsibilities.
Enforce unit, department, and library policies.
Open and close the building and maintain security of the library and collections.
May supervise student assistants and coordinate daily workflows.
Represent the University Library to patrons during evenings, weekends and holidays.
