Job summary

The Huntington is seeking an on-call Events Set-Up Assistant to support meetings, lectures, and other gatherings with furniture, AV, and custodial services. You will work under supervision and report to the Special Events Supervisor, with evening and weekend hours common.

Ideal candidates are personable, able to lift heavy objects, and comfortable coordinating with diverse teams while maintaining a welcoming environment for all visitors and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Valid California Driver's License.
• Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and to accurately interpret diagrams.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects; stand for long periods of time; climb ladders and stairs.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekend events.
• Some crew experience preferred; experience with AV equipment helpful.

Responsibilities

• As directed by the Special Events office sets up and tears down tables, chairs, audio/video, and other equipment as needed.
• Ensures that event furniture is clean and in good repair, and is stored properly.
• Records and keeps a regular inventory of all in-house events furniture and equipment.
• Proactively manages a schedule of setups & teardowns that maximizes space turnover and efficiency.
• Works with Special Events Managers to schedule setups for different venue configurations.
• Runs and distributes power & lighting for events as needed.
• Sets up AV equipment in conjunction with the AV technician.
• May troubleshoot and assist with keeping track of AV equipment location.
• Performs special cleaning for events and related duties.
• May assist in moving boxes and furniture; perform light maintenance duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
