Job summary

Institute for Community Living Inc. in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for an on-call, floater role in a residential setting. The job requires evening (3pm-11:30pm) and weekend availability with a minimum 24 hours per week.

The role involves direct care to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities, with emphasis on promoting independence, daily living skills, and community integration. Compensation is hourly, with robust benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate required.
• Experience providing direct care to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities preferred.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License with clean driving record required.
• AMAP Certification – REQUIRED.
• CPR and First Aid Certification – current or can obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and health support, including hygiene, grooming, toileting, medication administration (per AMAP).
• Support nutrition and mealtime activities, including meal preparation and safe food handling.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized residential environment, including housekeeping and fire safety.
• Promote development, independence, and community integration through skill-building and transportation support.
• Encourage interpersonal relationships, communication, money management, and leisure activities.
• Observe and report progress; participate in planning, team meetings, and training.
