United Veterinary Care’s Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, RI, seeks a Veterinary Technician Manager for 2nd shift to lead the evening team and uphold excellent patient care. You’ll guide technicians, coach staff, and participate in shaping hospital culture while remaining hands-on when needed.

The role emphasizes leadership, staff development, and collaboration with senior leadership in a dynamic emergency/specialty setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary technician experience (Credentialed Technician preferred).
• Previous veterinary leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work 2nd shift, one weekend shift per week, and some holidays.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—able to connect with both clients and staff.
• Strong problem-solving, time management, and multitasking skills.
• A collaborative leader with a positive, professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a talented team of veterinary technicians.
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth workflow and top-quality patient care.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and support professional development.
• Train and onboard new team members.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to refine policies, procedures, and hospital culture.
• Serve as a hands-on manager, stepping in to provide direct patient care as needed.
• Keep equipment maintained and operational.
