Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Bus Cleaner to perform routine work in servicing, cleaning and maintaining vehicles and equipment in the Transit Department, to include transit equipment and buses; to clean and service the shop areas and equipment; to provide assistance to technical, supervisory and management staff.

Responsibilities include cleaning and servicing the transit fleet, maintaining shop areas and assisting technicians.

Qualifications

Experience: None.
Training: Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and non-complex service and repair work on a variety of equipment and vehicles in assigned department.
Run errands; retrieve parts, tools and other materials needed for mechanical repair; pick up and deliver vehicles and equipment from various locations such as outside garages, body shops, vendors, and dealers.
Perform routine preventive maintenance of revenue and non-revenue Transit fleet; fuel, grease and lubricate automobiles, trucks and heavy automotive equipment; ensure appropriate fluid levels.
Service automotive equipment with gasoline, alternative fuel, and oil; keep records of amounts used.
Perform service calls; make temporary repairs; pick up parts.
Clean and repair shop and equipment.
Assist other automotive technicians in the performance of mechanical repairs as required.
Assist in general maintenance and cleanliness of automotive shop area.
