Job summary

Duke University Transportation Services seeks an on-site supervisor to lead the evening shift maintenance for the Duke Transit fleet, including buses, shuttles, and support vehicles. You will direct staff, assign priorities, and ensure fleet safety and readiness for service.

Responsibilities include supervising maintenance, coordinating with dispatch, managing work orders, and driving process improvements while acting in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in transportation services.
• Valid CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
• DOT Medical Certificate (Medical Card) required.
• Experience with transit buses and EV systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee evening shift maintenance operations.
• Direct staff, prioritize work, and ensure on-time completion.
• Act as supervisor in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Communicate fleet status to Transit dispatch.
• Manage and close work orders; document activities.
• Use maintenance management systems to track work orders and inventory.
• Coordinate parts ordering and inventory control.
• Assist in responding to road calls and breakdowns.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Maintain ongoing liaison with the Maintenance Supervisor.
