Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Traffic Management Specialist in Raleigh, NC to monitor and manage traffic incidents across the state. You will use cameras, maps and radios to detect events, assess impacts, and coordinate timely responses with emergency services.

The role requires a high school diploma and strong communication skills. Night shifts are required, with weekend and holiday as needed, and protracted training will occur before start.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Six months related dispatch experience preferred.
• Experience in public contact and telephone responsibilities preferred.
• Proficient with computer skills.
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Must have good command of the English language.
• Ability to perform in a professional courteous manner and remain friendly under pressure.
• Aptitude for geography and maps.

Responsibilities

• Detect and monitor traffic incidents using congestion maps, cameras, radios and other technologies.
• Determine the appropriate response to incidents by assessing characteristics, impacts and resources.
• Document incident details and response activity in real-time.
• Publish incident details on DriveNC.gov and create traveler information to help motorists avoid impacted roadways.
• Activate electronic roadside message boards to warn motorists and reroute traffic.
• Relay critical intel to NCDOT and other emergency responders in real-time.
• Dispatch NCDOT's incident management assistance patrol and coordinate with field staff.
• Manage statewide alerts for missing persons and law enforcement alerts.
