Job summary

Mercyhealth in Janesville, WI is seeking a Surgical Scrub Technologist to assist surgeons by preparing and maintaining a sterile operating room. The role supports patient safety and ensures equipment functions properly, with a PM shift from 11am to 7:00 pm and total schedule of 20 hours per week.

The ideal candidate has a GED or higher, training from a CAAHEP-accredited program (or in accreditation), and less than 1 year of experience in a surgical scrub role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required OR program currently participating in accreditation process
• Less than 1 year experience as a Surgical Scrub technologist

Responsibilities

• Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Maintains sterile field and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
• Assists the surgical team before, during, and after surgery with requested duties.
• Checks instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, gloves, and sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medication as needed.
• Assists with patient placement and positioning on the table and draping.
• Performs counts for sponges, needles, and instruments prior to incision and before closure.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; maintains sterile technique throughout procedure.
• Passes instruments to surgeon and assists as directed; prepares dressings and applies them as needed.
• Participates in room cleaning and prepping for the next patient and in department performance improvement activities.
