Job summary

Safeway is hiring a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations in the absence of top leadership. You will supervise staff, coordinate late-shift activities, and drive customer service initiatives while helping with hiring and training for future store leadership.

The role includes merchandising execution, ordering, receiving, pricing, and coordinating with department leads to meet daily objectives. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Four or more years retail experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Close shifts to run total store operations in the absence of SD/ASD.
• Cover ASD on days off or when ASD substitutes for SD.
• Oversee total store operation and supervise all employees.
• Initiate corrective action when needed.
• Coordinate with late shift operations for day-to-day store activities.
• Ensure fast, friendly, courteous customer service and handle customer relations.
• Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and merchandising duties.
• Prepare night stockers and day stockers checklists for closing and daytime operation.
• May perform receiving clerk duties in absence of Inventory Control Clerk.
• Develop and execute marketing/merchandising plans with clerks and leads.
• Coordinate displays and minimize out-of-stocks with day stockers.
• Support strategies to improve product placement, profit and standards.
• Train Head Clerks for potential promotion to Third Person in Charge.
• Support safety culture and training for new and promoted employees.
• Ensure onboarding and mandatory training completion and proper personnel filing.
