Job summary

Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Arizona is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I to ensure sterile surgical instrumentation is ready for procedures. The role covers decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization in PeriOp Services with emphasis on accuracy and quality.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and strong organizational and communication skills. SPD certification within one year of hire is preferred; evening shift includes weekend

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Mechanical aptitude required; able to break down moving parts, clean, reassemble.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred: SPD Technician certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Decontaminate, assemble and package surgical instruments per IFU and QA records.
Maintain sterilization logs and quality assurance records for equipment.
Interpret surgical schedule and communicate instrument needs to minimize delays.
Track and classify instruments by ownership and location; report shortages.
Operate sterilizers, washers, and high-level disinfection equipment according to policy.
Maintain a clean, safe environment following PPE and infection control protocols.
Rotate shifts and maintain regular attendance and professional appearance.
