Job summary

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ seeks a Lead Sterile Processing Technician to support OR readiness, instrument handling, and tray assembly across decontamination and sterilization. You will supervise staff and ensure sterile instruments are ready for procedures in a Level I trauma setting.

Applicants must hold CSPDT or CRCST certification and have at least two years of sterile processing experience, with strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate with OR

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Requires national certification as a SPD Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
• Requires proficiency level typically acquired with two years of sterile processing experience including knowledge of surgical instrumentation, patient related supplies, materials and equipment, aseptic and sterilization techniques. Must have mechanical aptitude with the ability to break down moving parts, clean, lubricate and reassemble, and to troubleshoot incomplete trays and missing instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as a departmental technician across PeriOp/CSPD.
• Applies judgment in determining priority level of instrumentation and equipment requests for a specific service line or shift.
• Coordinates with department staff to assure service line priorities are met and completed in a timely manner.
• Mentors new employees and signs off on competency for service line issues.
• Oversees assigned service line, investigates and resolves issues, and reports to leadership.
