Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to provide sterilized surgical instruments and supplies to the operating room and other areas of the hospital. The role may serve as lead technician on a shift and requires adherence to safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification requirements, and at least two years of sterilization experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Licenses/Certifications: CBSPD or IAHCSMM required; CIS or CSIS preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years sterilization experience.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver supplies with teammates.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic computer skills.
• Ability to think critically and apply problem-solving skills.
• Effective oral and written communication; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• May function as lead technician/charge person on the shift.
• Advance knowledge of Sterile Processing department rules and procedures.
• Assemble, sterilize, and inspect instruments and supplies.
• Maintain records of equipment and supplies and order as needed.
• Ensure safety and adherence to infection control standards.
• Provide quality service with reliability and professionalism.
