Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to work in the General Laboratory. The evening shift, Monday through Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pm, includes every other weekend and 2-3 holidays per year.

You will process, sort, and deliver specimens, affix labels, and prioritize stat testing to meet turnaround times. Candidates should have an associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or health science, or a high school diploma with 5 years of specimen processing experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required
• High School diploma with at least five years of experience working in specimen processing from similar hospital system

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips
• Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens
• Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery

Education
