Job summary

Labcorp in Itasca, IL is seeking a Technologist to join our team and support high‑volume clinical testing. The role focuses on specimen acceptability, routine and complex procedures, instrument troubleshooting and ensuring timely, accurate results to support patient care.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant science degree, prefers ASCP/AMT certification, and can work overtime or alternate shifts as required in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• Understanding of laboratory operations and CLIA standards.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
