Job summary

Labcorp in Itasca, IL is seeking a Technologist to join our team. Work schedule is Monday–Friday 2:00pm–10:30pm with rotating weekends and two holidays.

You will determine specimen acceptability, perform procedures, troubleshoot instrumentation and report results to deliver quality patient care. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or MLS, with 1+ year of lab experience; ASCP/AMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology is required.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree is required.
• ASCP/AMT certification is preferred and can be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.
