Job summary

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is seeking a Resident Assistant (RA) at Northside Common Ministries (NCM) in Pittsburgh to help provide a safe, supportive environment for shelter residents. The RA will supervise residents, enforce shelter rules, perform safety checks, and assist with daily activities.

This part-time position requires a high school diploma, experience with diverse populations, and clearance requirements.

Qualifications

Experience facilitating workshops and guiding participants in a shelter or community service setting.
Ability to refer residents to appropriate services and resources.
Experience working with diverse populations in a social services context.

Responsibilities

Conduct hourly safety checks and maintain detailed logbooks.
Provide supervision and support to shelter residents.
Address and de-escalate conflicts and report incidents to the Shelter Coordinator.
Ensure the safety and security of the shelter premises at all times.
Enforce shelter policies regarding behavior and prohibited items.
Maintain accurate logbooks and incident reports.
Participate in shift handovers and ensure smooth transitions.
Support residents in keeping living areas clean and tidy.
Report maintenance or repair needs to staff.
Follow all applicable regulations and policies at Goodwill SWPA sites.
All other duties as assigned within homeless services scope.
Ensure cleanliness and general maintenance of the facility.
