Lifting Up Westchester is seeking a Client Care Specialist for Jan Peek Homeless Shelter in Peekskill, NY. The role focuses on engaging residents with dignity, providing direct care, guidance, and supervision to shelter residents, and supporting routines of daily living in a shelter setting.

The position requires compassion, strong communication, and the ability to maintain safety and order while promoting positive social interaction among residents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of experience in Human Services, preferably in residential settings.
• Basic computer experience preferred.
• Knowledge of alcohol, drug, and mental health issues is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Develops good relationships with residents and contributes to a positive atmosphere.
• Responds to residents' concerns, documents issues via logs and reports.
• Completes daily resident census records.
• Maintains security by monitoring entrances/exits and escorting disruptive individuals; conducts rounds for hazards.
• Performs crisis intervention and assesses risk of self-harm or high-risk behaviors.
• Assists in serving meals and laundering bed linens.
• Provides cleaning and housekeeping support to maintain safe conditions.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
