Job summary

Ohio History Connection is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard museum grounds, buildings, and people in Columbus, OH. The role involves patrols, monitoring access, responding to alarms, and assisting staff and visitors.

The position requires a high school diploma with 1–3 years of related experience or an equivalent credential, CPR/First Aid certification, and a valid Ohio driver’s license. Hours include evenings, weekends, and 4 PM–12 AM shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus 1–3 years experience or relevant post-secondary degree or technical certification.
• CPR/First Aid certification required or preferred.
• Ability to learn and use office software suites for essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Maintains security of grounds, buildings, equipment, and persons through patrols and safety tours.
• Locks and unlocks buildings, gates, and rooms as directed.
• Monitors access points and verifies proper authorization for entry and exit.
• Responds to alarms, incidents, and emergencies as directed.
• Provides first aid when necessary.
• Documents incidents and activities and completes required reports and logs.
• Communicates information to the Security Lead or supervisor in a timely manner.
• Monitors fire and security alarm systems as assigned.
