Job summary

Somerville Public Schools is seeking an Evening Door and Building Monitor for the Somerville High School campus. This role monitors the main entrance, screens visitors, enforces security policies, and maintains a courteous relationship with staff, students, and families during weekday evening hours.

The position involves log keeping, coordinating with custodial staff, and responding to safety concerns, with duties including directing people inside, checking IDs, and ensuring doors remain locked.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the front entrance and other exterior doors; ensure doors are locked.
• Verify identification, check in visitors, and issue passes.
• Assist students, staff and visitors entering the building and direct them inside.
• Conduct regular checks of hallways and restrooms; monitor security cameras if applicable.
• Report and manage safety threats or unauthorized individuals and remove them if needed.
• Redirect people from unauthorized locations in the building.
• Coordinate with night custodial staff to ensure the building is cleared of visitors each evening.
• Maintain visitor logs and report maintenance or safety concerns.
