Job summary

St. Stephen's Episcopal School seeks a long-term, part-time Library Assistant for a 10-week substitute role from January 4 to March 12, 2027. Regular hours are Monday through Thursday, 2:15 PM–10:00 PM with a 45-minute dinner break.

The role involves assisting students and faculty, supervising the library, and supporting information literacy efforts. Qualified candidates may hold a MLS or be current MLS students; strong communication, detail orientation, and proactive problem-solving are

Qualifications

• MLS degree or current MLS student preferred.
• Previous library experience is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail required.
• Must have a proactive, strategic approach to problem-solving.
• Computer literacy skills with G-Suite preferred.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills; experience with Middle/Upper School students is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and faculty with library materials and equipment.
• Supervise students in the library to maintain a quiet, academic atmosphere.
• Provide academic guidance to students and connect them to on-campus support.
• Help librarians with projects and programming.
• Use Library Management System to circulate materials and run reports.
• Order and process library materials and make purchases as directed.
• Assist with research and information literacy.
• Communicate with boarding program administrators.
• Perform other library tasks as needed.
