Job summary

Haven Charter High School in the Bronx is hiring a full-time Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, families, and visitors. The role reports to the Director of Facilities and covers daily cleaning, waste removal, restroom maintenance, lunchroom support, and building readiness.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of custodial or related experience, knowledge of cleaning methods and safety procedures, and the ability to read and follow

Qualifications

• Two years of custodial experience preferred.
• Experience in schools or high-traffic environments preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation, and chemical handling.
• Familiarity with workplace safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the school building during operating hours.
• Service restrooms, empty trash/recycling, and monitor common areas.
• Support lunchroom cleaning and general upkeep during meals.
• Prepare building for the next day and assist with event setup and reporting of issues.
