Job summary

Bay Haven Charter Academy is seeking a Custodian I/II to maintain a clean and safe learning environment for students and staff. Responsibilities include floor care, restroom sanitation, and general building upkeep on rotating shifts.

The role requires knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively. The position may involve indoor or outdoor work in varying conditions and supports event setups as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Custodian I requires 0-3 years; Custodian II requires 4+ years.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to multi-task when necessary.
• Effective oral and written communication and excellent customer service.
• Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, scrub, mop, strip, and wax floors throughout each building.
• Operate scrubbers, buffers, vacuums and other equipment.
• Clean, sanitize and restock restrooms.
• Clean classrooms, offices, lobbies and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling bins.
• Clean dry erase boards as needed.
• Arrange furniture and assist with event setup.
• Work indoors or outdoors in varying climates.
• Report damage or unsafe conditions to staff/leaders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
