Job summary

Bronx Arts & Science Charter School Middle is seeking a Full Time Custodian (NY) to perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds. This role ensures safe, clean, sanitary, and organized interior and exterior spaces that support learning, with a 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities include morning/night assessments, hazard reporting, HVAC and safety system upkeep, and routine cleaning, setup for activities, and minor repairs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance is desirable.
• A valid driver's license is preferred.
• Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the CEO finds appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Conducts morning/night assessments of condition of building, parking lots, playgrounds
• Addresses and/or reports all possible hazardous conditions to ADO and/or Custodial Supervisor
• Maintains boiler room and electrical rooms and stairwells and hallways free of storage and/or clutter
• Performs duties to maintain building in good appearance and order such as snow removal, lawn mowing, leaf blowing, painting and minor repairs
• Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, offices, conference rooms and lounges and common areas

Education

High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position
