Job summary

Woodridge Elementary School District 68 is seeking a full-time custodian for the PM shift (3:00 pm–11:30 pm) to provide safe, attractive, and clean facilities and grounds at Woodridge. A high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to read basic operating instructions are required.

Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for routine custodial and maintenance tasks and be able to operate basic hand tools. 12-month position with benefits and vacation offered.

• Aptitude for performing routine custodial and maintenance tasks.
• Alternatives to qualifications as approved by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and grounds safe and clean, including snow removal.
• Regulates HVAC systems for seasonal comfort and efficiency.
• Checks exit doors and hardware for proper operation.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and dusts furniture.
• Cleans and disinfects toilets, floors, fixtures daily.
• Washes interior and exterior windows at least twice yearly.
• Maintains landscape and cleanliness of floors and walls.
• Inspects equipment and reports safety hazards.
• Cleans entryways and office area windows daily.
• Maintains and services motors and mechanical equipment.
• Replaces filters in heating/cooling units as needed.
• Opens and closes building; secures doors and turns off lights.
• Maintains inventory of tools and supplies.
• Performs general maintenance and repairs as directed.
• Moves furniture for activities as required.
• Complies with waste disposal regulations.
• Inspects lights and electrical outlets; monitors fire hazards.
• Supports lunchroom setup/breakdown and emergency response.
• Processes work orders and performs other duties as assigned.
