New Bedford Public School District is seeking a Jr. Custodian for the Hayden McFadden Elementary School in New Bedford, MA. The role operates 2 PM to 10 PM and requires New Bedford residency.

The position duties include assisting in school functions, maintaining a clean and safe environment, handling supplies, and supporting HVAC maintenance under the guidance of the Principal/Senior Custodian. Immediate start. This role reports to the Custodial Manager and aligns with AFSCME terms.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reports to the Principal/Senior Custodian to attend to problems or complaints.
• Assists in preparing school functions and activities, and moves/rearranges furniture and equipment under supervision.
• Maintains a clear, sanitary and safe environment in kitchen/cafeteria areas as directed.
• Unloads supplies and equipment designated for use or storage within the building.
• Supports upkeep of heating and ventilation systems and routine preventative maintenance.
• Assists in securing the building and notes areas needing attention.
• Notifies supervisor of facilities or equipment needing repair.
• Performs routine and non-routine tasks as directed.
• Keeps building and grounds clean, safe, and presentable at all times.
• Maintains professionalism as part of the Custodial Department.
