Job summary

Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia is seeking a Custodian for the 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM shift. This salaried, non-exempt position is part of the School Leadership and Operations division and follows the district’s Custodial Salary Schedule.

Starting date is immediate. Strong cleaning skills, ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and teamwork are essential. Training and ongoing duties include routine maintenance, safety adherence, and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Standard high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with cleaning, floor and restroom care, and equipment maintenance preferred.
• Able to lift up to 35 pounds and climb ladders or scaffolding.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Accept direction from Head Custodian, Supervisor, or Administrator.
• Perform custodial and preventative maintenance duties in all areas/locations of the District.
• Clean woodwork, walls, furniture, and windows using approved equipment and cleaning products.
• Mop, scrub, strip, wax, shampoo, vacuum, and spot-clean carpeting and floors.
• Climb multilevel stairwells and ladders to complete tasks.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and restock as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain confidentiality; work professionally with students and staff.
