Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is seeking an RN for the Medical and Surgical unit, working 12-hour evening shifts with FT nights. The role involves direct and indirect patient care, clinical collaboration, and adherence to nursing standards.

Responsibilities include developing care plans, documenting care, teaching patients and families, and supporting process improvements in a fast-paced hospital environment. Iowa RN licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a program in professional nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa.
• Completes Introduction to Telemetry class or equivalent within 3 months of hire.
• Experience with computer software and willingness to learn new software (Excel, Microsoft, electronic health record, WorkDay, etc.).
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Must provide proof of BLS Healthcare Provider certification prior to employment or within 60 days of hire.
• Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within 6 months of hire and renews every 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and develops the plan of care.
• Evaluates patient responses to nursing interventions and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team.
• Communicates patient changes to coworkers and multidisciplinary caregivers.
• Delegates and supervises patient care activities within scope of practice.
• Documents patient information accurately in the medical record at bedside and promptly.
• Maintains active logons/passwords for systems supporting patient care and education.
• Supports changes in technology and processes and remains calm under stress.
