Job summary

Grand Valley State University is seeking an Overnight Safety Specialist to manage the nightly security program for residence halls. You will supervise and schedule Overnight Safety Student Assistants, monitor entrances, enforce access protocols, and assist residents and guests.

The role is primarily overnight on a rotating schedule including weekdays and weekends, with responsibility for staffing, incident response, documentation, and collaboration with Housing & Residence Life, campus security,

Qualifications

• Experience supervising student staff or teams with accountability.
• Ability to respond to safety or behavioral incidents and coordinate follow-up.
• Commitment to Educational Equity and respectful conduct.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nighttime access and security operations across residential buildings.
• Schedule, train, and supervise Overnight Safety Student Assistants.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate with Housing & Residence Life and campus security.
• Maintain documentation of access issues and safety incidents.
