Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Mental Health Technician role at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ, supports psychiatric patients under RN supervision. The position emphasizes vigilance, empathy, and helping maintain a therapeutic environment.

You will observe, assist with ADLs, and participate in care planning, while documenting observations and vital signs. Evening shift, full-time, 36 hours weekly, offering competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3-5 years of related psychiatric or geriatric-psychiatric experience required.
• One year of experience as a Nurse Aide/Assistant/CHHA/EMT or completion of an approved Aide training program required.
• At least one year of experience as a phlebotomist and/or EKG technician preferred.
• Ability to comply with national patient safety goals and MMC BEST certification on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant observation and companionship, monitoring patient safety and preventing injury.
• Follow patient care plans and assist with ADLs and routine tasks.
• Record vital signs and report abnormal values to the RN.
• Engage patients in therapeutic conversations and activities to build rapport.
• Document patient location, behavior, and observation notes every 15 minutes.
