Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Oversee afternoon, evening, and weekend operation of the Student Center and Game Room.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate Game Room student employees.
  • Coordinate and manage student leagues, intramural bowling events, tournaments, and recreational programming.
  • Collaborate with the Student Center Building Manager to accommodate internal and external event requests.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise Game Room programs and student engagement activities.
  • Assist with campus-wide student engagement initiatives and special events.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Game Room equipment and service vendors.
  • Monitor the cleanliness, safety, functionality, and maintenance of bowling, billiards, and gaming equipment; coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Maintain equipment inventory, policies, and equipment check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Prepare reports, maintain operational records, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, the Program Manager is responsible for the daily operation, supervision, and programming of the Texas Southern University Student Center and Game Room. This position manages recreational facilities, coordinates student engagement initiatives, supervises student employees, and oversees leagues, intramural bowling events, and Game Room programming. The Program Manager ensures the facility is safe, well‑maintained, and provides a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests. Evening and weekend work is required.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Oversee the afternoon, evening, and weekend operation of the Student Center and Game Room.

Hiring Range

$55,038.89-$70,174.59

Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Student Affairs, Hospitality, Sports Management, or a related field.

Required Licensing/Certification

Work Experience

Required:

  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience in student engagement, recreation, or facility management.
  • Experience supervising student employees and coordinating recreational or campus programming is preferred.
Working/Environmental Conditions

Stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and lift light to moderate objects.

Sit or stand for extended periods.

Use manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
