Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician II for the Inpatient Phlebotomy Team. This 50% position (20 hours/week) works evenings, every other weekend and holiday, on campus in Iowa City.

The role performs phlebotomy, supports trainee progress, and handles related clerical tasks. Responsibilities include complex specimen procurement, data entry, supply management, and guiding staff on phlebotomy techniques.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician from ACA/AMT/ASCP/NCA/NCCT/NHA.
• Six months full-time phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy training program.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy draws.
• Performs data entry for orders and admissions.
• Orders, receives, and distributes phlebotomy supplies.
• Instructs and trains others in phlebotomy techniques.
• Conducts complex specimen procurement processes.
• Maintains inventory and stock of supplies.
