Job summary

Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, IN, is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team. This full-time position works evenings (12p-8:30p) with rotating days and performs blood collection for laboratory testing.

Responsibilities include processing test requisitions, registering and ordering outpatient tests, performing capillary punctures and EKGs, and ensuring accurate results and proper patient communication. High school diploma with on-the-job lab training; one year experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with on-the-job training in a clinical laboratory.
• One year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skin punctures to obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing.
• Process and handle test requisitions promptly and accurately.
• Register and order tests for outpatients; inform techs of stat and timed testing.
• Distribute and file test results and physician orders; telephone patients, physicians, and nursing units.
• Perform capillary testing and EKGs for outpatients; maintain organized collection areas.
• Demonstrate professional behavior under demanding and stressful conditions.
• Communicate preparation and procedure information to patients and families as appropriate.
