Job summary

Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, KY is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for evenings. This full-time role provides direct venipuncture and specimen collection, adhering to hospital policies, TJC and CAP standards, and using LIS for data entry.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least 3 years phlebotomy experience, strong knowledge of lab procedures, and excellent communication. Benefits include medical, life, dental and 401K; schedule is Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm–10:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of phlebotomy experience
• Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and techniques.
• Ability to interpret and analyze technical data and quality control results.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a high-volume environment.
• Proficient in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and standard computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures, nasal swabs, and finger sticks using aseptic technique.
• Labels test tubes with patient information and collects samples.
• Maintains clean work areas and supplies venipuncture trays.
• Prioritizes STAT and ASAP orders.
• Follows safety and infection control standards.
• Documents results and participates in quality control.
• Interacts professionally with staff and clinicians.
