Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics in the United States seeks a part-time Phlebotomist to collect and process laboratory specimens under the Director of the Laboratory. The role emphasizes patient care, confidentiality, and adherence to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include blood draws, accurate labeling, specimen handling, education for staff, and inventory management within a clinical laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• Current Washington State DOH Medical Assistant Phlebotomy license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy training program/course.
• AHA BLS/CPR certified within 30 days of hire and maintained while employed.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred Experience working in a laboratory or related science experience.
• Experience with EPIC.

Responsabilités

• Greets patients in a courteous manner and explains procedures.
• Identifies patients following established policy.
• Performs blood draws using appropriate equipment and tubes.
• Labels specimens with at least two identifiers.
• Collects samples per time requests and priority orders.
• Follows policy for special tests and newborn screenings.
• Maintains confidentiality and infection-control standards.
• Trains and supervises new staff in phlebotomy practices.
• Transports specimens and supplies as needed.
• Participates in competencies and training.
