Job summary

Brown University Health in Providence, RI seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in formulation, preparation, dispensing and delivery of medications. Under supervision, you will handle orders, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and patient care area deliveries.

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent, RI licensure, and CPhT (or related experience). The role requires operating Omnicell EDDS, inventory control and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of college preferred.
• Must hold Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician licensure.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or have 1 year of licensed experience with exam planned.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Review practitioner medication orders and prepare meds for pharmacist review.
• Operate electronic drug dispensing system (EDDS/Omnicell) for inventory control.
• Maintain operating room medication inventory including controlled substances.
• Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic technique in USP 797 environment.
• Repackage non-sterile products and label with expiration dating.
• Participate in controlled substances inventory and discrepancy resolution.
• Deliver meds to clinics, operating rooms and patient care areas.
• Assist in paperwork for procurement and reimbursement and support quality/safety initiatives.
