Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Per Diem Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for Williamson Street. You will support perioperative care before, during, and after procedures as a circulating or scrub nurse, collaborating with surgeons and a multidisciplinary team.

Active New Jersey RN license and current BLS certification are required. BSN is preferred, CNOR credential is a plus, with eligibility for per diem evening shifts in a fast-paced OR environment.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license and current BLS certification required.
• BSN preferred; CNOR credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop perioperative nursing plans for safe care.
• Provide circulating and scrub nursing support during procedures.
• Prepare the OR with instruments, supplies, and equipment for each procedure.
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection prevention standards.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, and draping.
• Document intraoperative assessments and interventions accurately.
• Perform surgical counts and handle specimens per protocol.
• Inspect and operate surgical equipment and instrumentation; perform safety checks.
• Coordinate instrument and supply needs with Central Supply to minimize delays.
• Support efficient room preparation and turnover for timely starts.
• Collaborate with surgeons and team to troubleshoot workflow and equipment issues.
• Mentor new team members and contribute to quality improvement.
