Responsibilities

• Document patient trip via Hospital Throughput computer program.
• Transport patients to and from care areas; assist patients to/from vehicle.
• Communicate with patient regarding pending departure.
• Assist in moving patients in bed/wheelchair and help staff with transfers.
• Transport equipment under Transport Department responsibility.
• Use mobile device to access Hospital Throughput Computer Program.
• Assist patients with dressing/undressing as required.
• Obtain a “Ticket to Ride” from the nurse on arrival to floor.
• Obtain nurse signature on the “Ticket to Ride” before departure.
• Communicate with patient’s RN before departure or return to room.
• Park beds/stretchers/wheelchairs safely using braking system.
• Inform department of patient arrival and readiness for transfer.
• Coordinate handoff with receiving department and sign off on ticket.
• Ensure patient safety if receiving department not ready for testing.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient equipment after each trip.
• Report equipment issues to Manager and create BioMed service requests.
