Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Part Time Patient Safety Technician for the Nursing Support Pool in Huntley, IL. The role includes bedside monitoring, calming guidance to patients, and hazard identification to maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities include continuous observation, assisted daily living activities as delegated, and remote multi-patient monitoring with rapid staff escalation as needed. Requires HS diploma and BLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Remains at bedside of assigned patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
• Provides calming and reorienting conversation with patient in cases of patient’s agitation or confusion.
• Identifies and removes hazards from the patient and patient's environment, and reports as appropriate.
• May assist patient with performing activities of daily living, as delegated by supervising RN, including ambulating, toileting, assisting with bed making, positioning.
• Provides continuous safety observation via continuous video monitoring, of patients identified to be at risk for causing injury to themselves or to others.
• Remotely monitors multiple patients via continuous video monitoring and summons staff via communication device when appropriate.
