Job summary

PIH Health Downey Hospital is seeking a food service team member to prepare and serve salads, sandwiches, desserts, and snacks for patients. You will log temperatures on the trayline and in cold storage, deliver meals to nursing stations, and maintain clean, organized work areas.

Experience with kitchen equipment and cash handling is helpful. English literacy is required, and a high school diploma is preferred but not mandatory. Evening shifts and hospital environment experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Follow standardized recipes and portion control protocols.
• Ability to use knives and large food production equipment.
• Ability to use cash register and make change.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Six months experience in food services preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of modified diets helpful.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve salads, sandwiches, desserts, supplemental and enteral snacks.
• Log hot and cold food temps on trayline and refrigerator/freezer temps.
• Deliver meal carts/late trays for patients to nursing stations.
• Stock and clean work areas; maintain sanitation of kitchen and dining areas.
