Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I for the Med Surg Unit to support nurses and provide direct patient care in the 3:00pm–11:30pm shift. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor patients, and help with patient positioning and safety throughout the shift.

Required: high school diploma or GED, Basic Life Support within 30 days, strong English communication, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support within 30 days of employment.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under stress.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely communication to the RN about patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in creating a safe environment and de-escalate when needed.
• Assist patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Support moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients safely.
