Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care during a 7 pm to 7 am shift, one shift per week with holiday rotation. You will support daily living activities, monitor vitals, and document care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

• Graduate of high school or equivalent.
• Minimum of a 75-hour nurse aide course.
• Basic computer/typing skills required.
• Medical Terminology course strongly recommended.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Answer patients call lights.
• Assist with simple procedures under the direction of the RN.
• Take/monitor and record vital signs, weights, and intake and output.
• Transport patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens.
• Label all specimens in accordance with standards.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment.
• Promptly document care to ensure an accurate legal record.
• Demonstrate effective communication with the healthcare team.
• Follow individualized plan of care under supervision of the RN.
