Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a patient care assistant (PCA/ CNA) to support daily living activities and vital signs documentation in an on-site setting at 75 Francis Street.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, accurate documentation, and teamwork with licensed staff. Qualifications include CNA/PCT/MA/EMT certification or equivalent experience, nursing student progress, and preferred bilingual abilities.

Qualifications

• Certification as a CNA, PCT, MA, EMT or commensurate experience required.
• If MA state does not offer CNA exams at hire, documentation of successful completion of CNA coursework suffices.
• Nursing student who has completed fundamentals of nursing with a clinical component.
• For nursing students hired as PCAs, BSN/direct-entry Masters programs preferred.
• Bi-lingual skills preferred.
• Prior experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• May not currently hold a valid nursing license.

Responsibilities

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks such as bathing and dressing, help them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with turning and repositioning patients and moving between bed and wheelchair.
• Listens to health concerns and reports those concerns to the nurses.
