Job summary

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for a 40-hour evening shift at our Onsite 75 Francis Street location in Boston.

You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and document care in the medical record under licensed personnel. Required CNA/PCT/MA/EMT certification or equivalent experience; nursing students in BSN/direct-entry Masters programs preferred.

Qualifications

• CNA, PCT, MA, EMT or commensurate experience required.
• Nursing student who has completed fundamentals of nursing with clinical component; BSN/direct-entry Masters preferred for nursing students hired as PCAs.
• Bi-lingual skills preferred.
• Prior experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• May not currently hold a valid nursing license.

Responsibilities

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding).
• Assist with turning and repositioning patients and moving between bed and wheelchair.
• Reports health concerns to nurses.
