Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) for the Emergency Department. You will perform hands-on patient care, including bathing, linens, and basic treatments, while ensuring comfort, safety and compassionate support during treatment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification, and basic computer skills. Evening shifts 11:00AM–11:30PM with every-other weekend and three holidays per year.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification by AHA or Red Cross on hire or within new hire period.
• Prior job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer or emergencies.
• Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, back rubs, etc.
• Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight and height.
• Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction and removing urinary foley catheters.
• Prepare patients for meals, assist in feeding patient if necessary and distribute water and other nourishments according to patient needs in compliance with physician orders.
• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
• Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge.
• Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.
• Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area.
• Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, reporting equipment that is out of order, cleaning equipment (as assigned) and mandatory inventory and distributing unit linen and supplies.
• Document patient care in the electronic medical record.
• Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
